Debate Club (Y7-13)

Public speaking and debate are lifelong skills which are developed through practice. 

Debate Club gives students the confidence and skills to speak up, think critically and argue persuasively. Through lively debates and practical activities, students learn to build strong arguments, rebut effectively, respond spontaneously and hone their oracy and public-speaking skills.

Debaters are encouraged to stay on top of current affairs, explore pressing global issues and consider different perspectives, developing into informed, independent and critical thinkers and engaged citizens of the world.

Open to everyone, from complete beginners to experienced debaters, the club also offers opportunities to represent Byron at national and international competitions.

More than debating, it is about developing confident, articulate and informed young people who can listen, question, persuade and make their voices heard.
